Artist Information: The Silverwood Duo debut concert at Carnegie Hall was described as a "highlight of the season" by Where Magazine New York. A notably versatile and active chamber ensemble, their innovative collaborative partnerships make the rich tradition of classical music accessible for diverse communities. A recipient of multiple grants, they have been featured on many television programs including PBS's Arizona Illustrated as well as broadcast on several radio programs nationwide. One of Tucson's "most beloved musical pairs" (Desert Leaf) the duo has also been invited for concerts in Ohio, Michigan, Las Vegas, South Carolina, California, and New York.
Paige Jackson is hailed for her "artistically refined guitar performances" (Musician). She appears frequently as a soloist and chamber musician in traditional and unconventional venues. She was named a Theodore Presser Scholar and lived in Brazil for two years, concertizing and studying as a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar. She holds a Bachelor of Music in guitar performance from the University of Akron where she studied with Steve Aron and a Master of Music in guitar performance from the University of Arizona where she studied with Thomas Patterson. For Children - Join the Silverwood Duo for an entertaining and educational program. Learn about rhythm in an Irish waltz, a Hungarian dance, and an Argentine tango. Discover the concept of dynamics in music with a fun game. Then, find out what happens to an elf when he learns to play music in an interactive piece complete with narration. Program content is customized for different age groups. | |
For Adults - The performers will play and discuss aspects of the repertoire written for flute and guitar in this engaging lecture/demonstration. Learn about the history of these instruments, and how the literature has evolved from the Renaissance Era to the present day. |
